INDORE: The number of teenage girls who have undergone abortion in Indore in last year will definitely give a clue to social scientists who are engaged in reading the developments.
As per officials, around five dozen girls aged between 15-19 years have gone through abortions in last one-and-half year.
A social activist Tapan Bhattacharya said that this could be termed a significant change in the society.

Now value system is being replaced with new one. Girls have become confidant and well equipped to deal with new things, he said adding that but people should keep tab over the development.
Talking to media, joint director health, Indore division Dr Sharad Pandit had said that 53 girls aged between 15 and 19 have underwent abortions at the authorized MTP centres of the city from April, 2011 to March 2012.
The official said that around 80 such authorized centres in the district which have been recognized by the health department for carrying out abortions as per the provisions of the MTP act.
Dr Pandit further said that a total of 11 women between of 15 to 19 year old had undergone abortions.
Experts say that this is alarming and can even lead to cancer and other such diseases. Not only cancer it also increases the risks of other complications, said and expert.
